Chandra HohneChandra Hohne is a graduate student at Wright State University studying Computer Science. During Summer 2020, she worked in the Performance Assessment Division at Aptima.

How would you describe your internship at Aptima in 3 words?

Intriguing, Stimulating, Fulfilling

What has been your favorite aspect of interning at Aptima?

I feel Aptima truly believes in their interns by giving them meaningful roles and allowing them to make direct contributions. They really focus on the development of their interns.

What has been the most beneficial experience for you?

I’ve worked on a wide variety of projects during my time at Aptima, each requiring me to learn new technical skills. This has provided a diverse learning experience, as well as taught me how to prioritize work across multiple projects.

How has your internship prepared you for your future career goals?

Being a biomedical engineer with an interest in AI, Aptima was a perfect fit. Since Aptima’s work is centered around human performance and AI, I got to work on projects directly related to my studies and interests.

What skills have you gained during the course of your internship?

During the internship, I’ve improved soft skills and gained new technical skills such as CAD modeling, programming languages, data analysis, and how to research and analyze alternatives.

How would you describe Aptima’s culture?

Inclusive, friendly, and talented. Even in a virtual environment, I felt welcomed from day one. Everyone is extremely knowledgeable and goes out of their way to help one another. Aptima truly cares about you as individual, not just an employee.

What are you doing next or, alternatively, what do you want to do?

I plan to continue working at Aptima, as I finish my master’s program.

What do you know now that you wish you would have known when you started your internship?

How to do virtual Zoom and Microsoft Teams meetings…

Is there anything else you would like people to know about your internship?

There’s an unlimited number of personal and technical growth opportunities at Aptima. I’ve learned so much, and truly enjoyed everyone I got to work with. I’m grateful for the opportunity I was given.
