Aptima CORE Initiative

"Aptimists have proven again and again that, when we face adversity, we can find in us the strength to overcome it by working together and applying our humanity, empathy, and creativity to emerge from it stronger and better."

For years, Aptima has dedicated significant resources to enhancing inclusion, diversity, equity, and anti-racism across the company.

These efforts, often referred to as DEI, are deeply rooted in our corporate values and focus on the principles of CORE: Culture, Ownership, Respect, and Engagement. These principles guide activities designed to benefit Aptimists and our partners, both within our organization and in the wider community.

Our team has developed a comprehensive roadmap to ensure CORE principles are seamlessly integrated into our daily practices, inviting all interested Aptimists to participate. The 2024-2025 CORE focal areas are institutionalization and broadening impact. To achieve these goals, we have outlined three key initiatives aimed at building and fostering a diverse workforce:

·      Empowering enrichment

·      Building community

·      Attracting diverse talent

2024 CORE Activities & Progress to Date

Example activities for 2024-2025 initiative-related efforts include:

Aptima has implemented supportive mentorship programs for employees (e.g., our onboarding ambassador program)

Increasing regular internal and external communication related to Aptima CORE activities

Aptima has engaged in various internal communication (e.g., monthly newsletters and townhalls) as well external communication (e.g., LinkedIn posts)

Diversifying Aptima’s talent attraction approach

Aptima has engaged in relationship development with minority serving institutions and professional organizations to diversify potential applicant pools

At Aptima, we believe that by weaving CORE efforts into the fabric of our everyday operations, we can foster a more inclusive and supportive environment for all employees.  Our mission is to create a sense of belonging and an inclusive environment at every stage of the employee life cycle, starting with the interview experience.

Affinity Groups

In alignment with our CORE activities, our Affinity Groups work to promote the company’s diversity and inclusion efforts. They also enable networking, mentorship, and other opportunities for professional and personal development.

AQUA

The Aptima Queer Alliance is a safe space for LGBTQ+ Aptimists and allies to come together and develop a strong community of peers, discuss our experiences in different environments, and foster mentorship relationships for personal development. We support each other in our endeavors to find opportunities to be active members in our fields of work, and also support the company by working to create inclusive policies and make other recommendations to build and maintain and inclusive environment.

Women LEAD

Our Women LEAD Affinity Group is a place for female-identified (F-ID) Aptimists, as well as non-binary Aptimists who feel more comfortable having candid conversations with a majority F-ID group, to discuss and nurture opportunities around Leadership, Education, Awareness, and Development.

Women LEAD also periodically hosts “all-hands” meetings, where we welcome male-identified and non-binary allies to join in the conversation.
